On the home page of Reel Clever we will be exhibiting a Showreel of the week, hand picked by the Reel Clever team. Robert Domínguez’s Showreel is this weeks winner.

Robert’s reel begins with a very informative title. It states that Robert is a director and that the reel will contain ‘a collection of short films music videos and commercials.’ For a directing Showreel like Roberts it's important to show a high level of technical proficiency and quality acting.

Robert has got some very distinctive visual looks through out the reel. His use of color and depth of field are particularly effective. The conflict scene about three quarters of the way in is well placed. Most show reels stick with only flashy cinematography and visual spectacle, but for a director’s showreel it is especially important to include a couple dialogue scenes even if it breaks the flow of the reel. Dialogue scenes show that a director can get a good performance from their actors and create believable tension within a scene.

Robert's reel is a little longer than our previous showreel’s of the week. But it has a nice steady pace coupled with steady music that makes for a pleasing watch. I imagine scriptwriters and producers with formulated ideas to pitch would find Robert's Showreel very useful in gauging his visual and editing style.

Great stuff Robert, all the best for your future endeavors.
