Joe drops us right into his reel by dropping some big name brands that he has produced video work for.

After the big name montage we are treated to a series of compositing breakdown shots. Break down shots are useful for a client to gauge the quality and style of the compositors work. Usually the final composite is shown, then the same shot is repeated and each separate element is shown with accompanying explanatory text.

Unless your a dedicated compositor only one or two break down shots are needed per showreel. We learn from the ending title that Joe specializes in editing, videography and compositing. Joe strikes an excellent balance with these three quite separate fields. The reel is well edited and keeps pace with the music, the cinematography is excellent and the breakdown shots are fine examples of compositing technique.
